Not only will you find commercial real estate advice and insight on our blog and when you call the office of Champions DFW Commercial Realty, you can hear the advice and insight of Jim Kelley on a commercial real estate podcast. In Mid-October, Jim Kelley made his radio debut on the show “Experts in Business” on 620 KEXB in Dallas / Fort Worth area. The host is Brian Glenn.
Brian Glenn: You look great. You kind of fit the mold of what a real estate agent should look like. Sharp, refined, smile on your face, attentive, I love it. We’ve been talking about this for weeks. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the real estate here in North Texas is on fire. Not just the residential but the commercial side as well and that’s what you guys kind of deal with. Give us an idea of your company, a profile of your company.
Jim Kelley: Absolutely, thanks Brian. Champions DFW Commercial Realty is a full service brokerage located in Southlake, Texas. There’s approximately eight team members to the Champions team that make up the team, and we focus on commercial real estate throughout DFW but our primary focus is northeast Tarrant and Tarrant County in which we focus on retail, office, industrial flex and even land transactions.
Brian: Okay, how did you get started in real estate? You know, everyone’s got a story.
Jim: Absolutely. Well, I grew up in Dallas. Actually, I’m a native Texan, grew up in Oak Cliff, I think where everybody’s kind of found Oak Cliff by now. Bishop Arts District. Grew up in Dallas and went to Abilene Christian and got a marketing degree and proceeded to chase the American dream through corporate America only to be disappointed, let down. And a friend of mine from church suggested I consider commercial real estate. I followed her for a week, I fell in love with it and began office leasing over at the Crescent in Dallas for about a year.
Brian: As we wrap up 2015, we’ve had our highs and we haven’t really seen any lows yet. How would you summarize 2015 as far as real estate market goes?
Jim: Looking at the Dallas-Fort Worth market, it’s just been hot. It’s been on fire, phenomenal growth throughout all submarkets, cities and across all property types. Retail, industrial, office, land. Some of that growth has certainly been accelerated by the relocations of companies such as Toyota, Geico Insurance, Liberty Mutual, Amazon, Kubota Tractor, I can go on and on.
